Joonas Cork Lid

Maija Isola for Marimekko - 1961

In 1961, Maija Isola spent many evenings and nights working in Marimekko’s print factory – painting in gentle, sweeping brushstrokes to the sway of music. Meter upon meter of new patterns emerged. On one of those nights, Joonas (Jonah), a pattern inspired by the sun dancing on the waves of the Mediterranean, saw the light of day.

The Joonas pattern is printed onto this cork lid, 8 cm is made to fit on a 2,5 dl Oiva mug. We recommend wiping cork products clean with a damp cloth.

Cork is a durable, renewable material that is harvested from the bark of the cork oak, allowing the tree to keep on growing.
